I sympathise with what you went through. Kala ilam is used to put people through immense grief, and it is practised by many folks and so called "holy baba's" and sadhus. The same people that unleash kala ilam are the same ones that sit on gaddhi's and claim to be baba's and they use the same kala ilam to "cure" the affected. There are many of them here in the UK sitting on gaddhi's claiming to get spirit of hindu deitie's and using them to solve problems. But more than 75% of them dabble in kala ilam.
They will pay for the pain they cause. They might think that they are immune in this life but in re-incarnations to come the toll will have to be paid.
